How we select and rank listings
The Catering Finder is a U.S. catering directory. We organize public business profiles so event planners can compare options by location, service type, and cuisine.
During our launch phase, every active listing competes on the same rules. We do not sell sponsored placement or paid ranking boosts.
Listings are ordered primarily by profile completeness and quality signals, then by Google Maps rating and review volume when those are available.
- Photos and gallery coverage
- Description depth and clarity
- Documented service types, formats, and menu highlights
- Contact details (phone, email, or website)
- Google Maps star rating and review count (when published)
Ratings and reviews
Star ratings shown on listing cards and company profiles are sourced from Google Maps (rating data sourced from google maps). They are not an editorial score from our team.
We also operate an on-site review system. Submitted reviews are moderated before publication and are kept separate from the Google Maps aggregate rating.
At launch, on-site reviews may be empty while the moderation pipeline is live. When published, individual reviews may appear on a company profile and in structured data as supplemental customer feedback.
How often listings change
Directory data is refreshed through data imports, listing claims, and editorial passes on profiles.
We do not perform regulatory audits (such as health-permit verification) and we do not guarantee that every menu, price, or license detail is current.
Event hosts should confirm availability, pricing, and compliance directly with any caterer before booking.
Commercial model and transparency
Using the directory to search and request quotes is free for event planners during our launch period.
We do not currently charge caterers for visibility or featured placement in search results.
In the future we plan to monetize by connecting qualified event leads with catering businesses. When that launches, this page will describe how lead distribution works and whether any commercial relationships affect placement.
How we estimate market price ranges
City and state pages may show directional catering budget ranges. Those figures come from published U.S. industry benchmarks and Bureau of Economic Analysis regional price data — not from individual caterer quotes in our database.
Use the catering cost calculator for interactive planning; treat all estimates as guidance only.
