We build your estimate in four layers using published U.S. market benchmarks—not prices from individual caterers in our directory. Adjust guest count, service style, bar package, and location to see per-person and total ranges update instantly.
The four layers
1. Food by service style
Drop-off and box lunches start lower; buffets, food stations, and plated dinners add staffing and presentation cost.
2. Regional pricing (BEA)
Your city or state applies a cost-of-living multiplier from U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis data when we can match a metro area.
3. Bar & beverages
Beer & wine, standard open bar, and premium packages are priced per guest and added on top of food—matching how most U.S. caterers quote.
4. Fees & tax allowance
Food and bar each get a realistic add-on for service charge, gratuity, and a national-average tax allowance—lower for drop-off, higher for full bar and plated service.
